This winter, young Winnipegers began walking out of school in the hundreds on the first Friday of every month to demand our governments take action to address the climate crisis. We joined the 1.5 million students globally who marched out of the classroom, to raise our voices together and ask the adults: why won’t you protect us?
On September 27th, cities across Canada will join Greta Thunberg’s call for a general strike for the climate. This year in Winnipeg, we are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Winnipeg General Strike for better working conditions and fair treatment. We are asking you to join us as we demand our governments protect our future and take emergency measures on the scale necessary to effectively fight climate change.
There will be a march, speakers, performers, and opportunities for group action.
The Global Climate Strike on September 27th isn’t just for youth – we need everyone! All are welcome; we are committed to making this event family friendly and accessible to all.
